How Sheldon Lavin Helped Build OSI Group, LLC

Sheldon Lavin has had a successful career in the food processing and meat industries that spans over four decades. He has been making waves within the industry since the 70s. He previously had a successful career in finance and banking. In 1970, Lavin arranged to finance OSI Group’s predecessor company, Otto & Sons. The company then built a meat processing plant and soon became the sole supplier of hamburgers to the McDonald’s Corporation in the Midwest.

Lavin’s bank wanted him to have an ownership stake at Otto & Sons; however, he declined and instead came on as a consultant. Five years later, Lavin got more involved in the company when it planned to make an overseas investment. McDonald’s then asked Lavin to join the new OSI Company in full-time capacity.

The company started expanding its operations in North America and then entered other international markets including Europe, South Africa, and Taiwan. In the 80s, Lavin gained 100 percent control of the Group. Today, OSI Group, LLC is made up of OSI International Foods, LLC; OSI Industries, LLC; and OSI International, Inc. It employs over 20,000 employees globally.

Sheldon Lavin is a successful management executive who presently heads OSI Group, LLC, as Chairman and CEO. He also holds the seat of President at OSI International Foods Ltd. He is well-respected within the food and meat processing industry. Lavin has acquired broad experience and knowledge since he entered meat processing industry in the 70s.

Lavin started working for Otto & Sons in 1970 within the company’s financial department. The company later developed into the OSI Group, LLC. Under his leadership, OSI Group has grown into an international industry leader. It operates over 60 locations in 60 countries. Thanks to his efforts at the company, Lavin has received many awards including the Global Visionary Award received from the Vision World Academy in India. On top of his budding career at OSI Group, Lavin finds time to give back to his community. He supports charitable causes like Ronald Reagan House Charities, Jewish United Fund, and Evans Scholarship Fund.
