End Citizens United’s Fight Moves To Texas Behind Beto O’Rourke
Ted Cruz is a sitting Republican senator for the state of Texas. He’s the guy who turned around to campaign for Trump after the Donald called his wife ugly. And a popular meme that has been circulating the Internet for years sums up the senator quite nicely. It’s a picture of a blobfish.
The spineless senator has been taking advantage of Citizens United ever since the asinine Supreme Court decision was made. This allows him to stuff his pockets with corporate money in order to defeat any challengers. it enables him to perpetually keep his seat while he does the bidding of big business in Washington at the expense of the people of Texas.
But End Citizens United and Beto O’Rourke are coming for him. The political action committee was formed right after Citizens United came out. They, like many people, believe that the Supreme Court decision has long-term ramifications that could destroy our democracy. Beto O’Rourke is a congressman from El Paso, Texas, that running against Ted Cruz for his Senate seat in 2018.

Beto O’Rourke, with the endorsement of End Citizens United, are just a few points behind Ted Cruz in the polls. And this is astounding considering the uphill battle they must wage in the wake of Citizens United. Ted Cruz still sits on his mountain of corporate money while Beto O’Rourke only takes small donations from individuals. But it seems that David will slay Goliath in November.
It’s more important than ever that End Citizens United succeed in their mission to overturn the SC decision. They have found a powerful ally in Beto O’Rourke in their fight. The soon-to-be senator has promised to end Citizens United once and for all. He’s even committed to a constitutional amendment if it goes that far.
Citizens United has forever made the political playing field uneven. It allows wealthy businesses and giant corporations to pump a mountain of cash into an election cycle. This essentially silences the voice of the public. This voter inequality cannot stand and must be defeated as quickly and soundly as possible. And the war may start in Texas.
