Serge Belamant Showed Love For Tech Early

Blockchain may have originally been developed by Serge Belamant in 1989, but it’s recently been getting attention and making headlines because of the many ways people are discovering that it can be used. He first created blockchain when working on making a smart card that was equipped with a tiny microprocessor that could work even if it wasn’t online. This microprocessor had the capability of creating a secure list of the transaction that the smart card had been used for. This invention changed the way that banks were able to process their transactions and made them more secure and much faster than the methods that they had been using with their cards.

Serge Belamant has had a long degree in technology after he received his education in information systems and computer sciences. The blockchain technology that he created almost 30 years ago is an important part of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and vital to tracking transactions while keeping them secure. While cryptocurrency may be what started to draw attention of developers, business people, and investors to technology, it is by far not the only that it is being used for today and more ways to implement it are being created often.

When Serge Belamant was a child, his family moved to South Africa when he was 14. In 1953, he was born in Tulle, France and had to quickly learn a second language of English when his family relocated. He has attended Witwatersrand University where he began his college career studying engineering before switching to applied mathematics and computer science. During his third year in college, he began studying information systems while attending the University of South Africa.

While Serge Belamant never actually completed his degree, this was mainly due to the fact that there were issues transferring his credits from Witwatersrand University to the University of South Africa. In essence, he received the education for the subjects that he had been studying but had no interest in having to retake classes that he had already completed at a different school. This has not stopped him on his path to success in world of technology.
